1. Conformance Status
Last updated: April 24, 2026 • Conformance target: WCAG 2.1 Level AA • Status: Partially conformant
WCAG Level A: Meets
WCAG Level AA: Partially Meets
WCAG Level AAA: Not Targeted
Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. Gene Matrix is actively working to address all known issues. We aim to achieve full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance by Q4 2026.
2. Accessibility Features Implemented
Perceivable — WCAG 2.1 Principle 1: All images include descriptive alt text. Background video is purely decorative, muted, and includes a user-controlled pause/play button. Form inputs have visible labels and ARIA descriptions. Color contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG AA minimums (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
Operable — WCAG 2.1 Principle 2: A skip navigation link is provided at the top of every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass the navigation menu and jump directly to main content. All interactive elements are keyboard accessible. No content flashes more than 3 times per second. Navigation is consistent across pages.
Understandable — WCAG 2.1 Principle 3: The page language is declared in HTML (lang="en"). Form inputs include descriptive labels, placeholder text, and error messages. Navigation is consistent and predictable. Medical terminology is explained in plain language where possible.
Robust — WCAG 2.1 Principle 4: HTML is valid and semantic. ARIA roles, states, and properties are used correctly. The site is compatible with current assistive technologies including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. We test with screen readers on a regular basis.
