Testing (11)

GeneMatrix tests deliver 99.9% accuracy using MassArray Sequencing technology with 30x coverage depth. Our CE-IVD certified laboratory follows strict quality control protocols, and every sample undergoes multiple validation steps. We analyze over 700,000 genetic markers across our comprehensive test panels, ensuring the highest level of precision in the industry.
Standard turnaround time is 5–7 days from the day our laboratory receives your sample — and members receive priority 48-hour processing on every test. You will receive email notifications at each stage: sample received, processing started, and results ready. All results are accessible through your secure patient portal.
Our laboratory is CE-IVD Certified and CLIA-certified, meeting the highest international standards for clinical laboratory testing. We also maintain ISO 15189 accreditation for medical laboratories and comply with all FDA regulations for genetic testing. Our facilities undergo regular inspections and participate in proficiency testing programs to ensure continued excellence.
Yes! The Gene Matrix Membership is designed for comprehensive genetic analysis — one membership includes all 11 tests. Taking multiple tests together provides a more complete picture of your genetic health profile and is far more cost-effective than ordering tests individually.
No physician order is required for most of our genetic tests. However, we strongly recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before and after testing to discuss results and their implications for your health. For certain specialized tests like GenePGx (pharmacogenomics), we provide complimentary genetic counseling to help interpret results.
GeneMatrix combines cutting-edge MassArray Sequencing technology with AI-powered analysis through our proprietary GeneMatrix AI Engine. Unlike competitors, we offer lifetime data updates, comprehensive multi-test packages, integrated genetic counseling, and a user-friendly mobile app. Our tests cover over 700,000 genetic markers—significantly more than most consumer genetic testing services.
Yes. Our GeneCancer test screens for hereditary cancer risk including BRCA1/BRCA2 and 50+ other cancer-related genes. We also analyze genetic variants associated with Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other neurological conditions through our GeneHealth and GeneMind panels. Results include risk assessments and preventive recommendations based on current medical guidelines.
Yes, with parental or legal guardian consent. We offer age-appropriate genetic testing for children, including our GeneBaby panel for newborns and infants. For minors, we recommend genetic counseling to discuss the implications of testing and ensure results are interpreted in an age-appropriate context. Parents maintain control of results until the child reaches 18.
Our GenePGx test analyzes how your genes affect your response to 200+ medications across 20+ drug classes including antidepressants, pain medications, cardiovascular drugs, and chemotherapy agents. Results show which medications are likely to be most effective for you, which may cause side effects, and which require dosage adjustments. This helps your doctor personalize your prescriptions for better outcomes and fewer adverse reactions.
The GeneMatrix AI Engine is our proprietary artificial intelligence system that analyzes your genetic data against millions of scientific studies, clinical databases, and real-world health outcomes. It identifies patterns, predicts health risks, and generates personalized recommendations that go beyond standard genetic analysis. The AI continuously learns from new research, automatically updating your insights as medical knowledge advances.
While our primary focus is health and wellness genetic testing, our GeneCore test includes ancestry composition analysis showing your genetic heritage across 150+ global populations. However, we are not primarily an ancestry service—our strength is actionable health insights. If ancestry is your main interest, dedicated ancestry services may be more appropriate.

Privacy & Security (6)

GeneMatrix employs military-grade AES-256 encryption for all data storage and transmission. We are fully HIPAA and GDPR compliant, maintaining strict data protection protocols. Your genetic information is stored in secure, geographically distributed data centers with multi-factor authentication, regular security audits, and 24/7 monitoring. We never share your data with third parties without your explicit written consent.
You own your genetic data, period. GeneMatrix acts only as a custodian of your information. You have complete control over your data, including the right to download, delete, or transfer it at any time. We will never sell your genetic information to pharmaceutical companies, insurance providers, or any third parties. Your data is used solely for generating your personalized reports and improving our analytical algorithms—only with your permission.
Absolutely. All GeneMatrix customers have lifetime access to download their complete raw genetic data in standard VCF (Variant Call Format) and CSV formats. This allows you to use your data with other genetic analysis tools or share it with researchers of your choice. Raw data downloads are available instantly through your patient portal at no additional cost.
In the United States, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) prohibits health insurance companies and employers from discriminating based on genetic information. However, GINA does not cover life insurance, disability insurance, or long-term care insurance. We recommend consulting with a genetic counselor or legal advisor if you have concerns about insurance implications before testing.
Once your test is complete, your DNA sample is automatically and permanently destroyed following strict biohazard disposal protocols — no exceptions. We do not retain physical samples after analysis. If a retest is ever needed for any reason, we will ship you a brand new collection kit at no charge, so you can provide a fresh sample. You can review our full sample handling policy in your patient portal or contact our support team for more details.
GeneMatrix will only release customer data to law enforcement if compelled by a valid court order, subpoena, or search warrant. We do not voluntarily cooperate with law enforcement requests and will notify you if legally permitted. We do not participate in any law enforcement genetic databases. Your privacy and trust are paramount—we will always fight to protect your genetic information within the bounds of the law.

We provide itemized receipts that meet IRS requirements for reimbursement. Simply use your HSA/FSA card at checkout or submit your receipt to your plan administrator for reimbursement.
We offer a full refund if you cancel before your sample is processed in our laboratory. Once processing begins, we cannot offer refunds due to the costs of laboratory analysis. However, if you are unsatisfied with your results or experience, please contact our customer service team—we stand behind our testing quality and will work to resolve any concerns.
No hidden fees, ever. The price you see at checkout includes the DNA collection kit, laboratory analysis, comprehensive reports, and lifetime access to your results. You can also access our extensive knowledge base, video tutorials, and 24/7 customer support through the patient portal.

Genetic Counseling (4)

Genetic counseling is a consultation with a certified professional who helps you understand your genetic test results, assess health risks, and make informed decisions. While not required, we strongly recommend counseling—especially if you have a family history of genetic conditions, receive unexpected results, or are considering testing for serious health conditions. All GeneMatrix customers receive one complimentary 30-minute session.
Yes, all GeneMatrix genetic counselors are board-certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or equivalent international certification bodies. Our counselors hold master's degrees in genetic counseling and have extensive experience in clinical genetics, genomics, and patient education. DNA collection is easy: (1) Do not eat, drink, smoke, or chew gum for 30 minutes before collection. (2) Fill the collection tube with saliva to the indicated line. (3) Close the tube tightly—this releases the stabilization fluid. (4) Shake gently for 5 seconds. (5) Place in the provided specimen bag and return mailer. (6) Drop in any mailbox or schedule a pickup. Detailed video instructions are available in your patient portal.
Our FDA Approved Collection tubes contain a proprietary stabilization buffer designed to maintain sample integrity during transit. For optimal results and to ensure the highest quality DNA analysis, samples should be returned to our laboratory within 14 to 21 days of collection — this is the validated window for viable DNA. We strongly recommend returning your sample as promptly as possible after collection. Samples are stable during standard shipping conditions, ensuring DNA integrity upon arrival at our laboratory.
