Our lab

The address, the certificate and the director accountable for every result: this is the laboratory your sample goes to (New York orders excepted).

The laboratory

GeneMatrix is the consumer brand of Gene Matrix LLC, founded in 2022: genetic tests you collect at home, genotyped in our own CLIA-certified laboratory in Chicago (New York orders excepted). The laboratory, CLIA certificate 14D2276402, is at Fulton Labs, 1375 W Fulton St, Suite 545, Chicago, IL 60607, and every order is tested there except those shipped to New York.

Chain of custody

What happens to a sample between the moment you seal it and the moment your report is released.

  1. Sealed at home

You collect the sample at home, seal the tube and send it back in the return packaging.

  2. Checked in

When it reaches the laboratory, each sample is identified and checked against its order before testing begins.

  3. Genotyped in our lab

Testing happens in our own CLIA-certified laboratory in Chicago. Orders shipped to New York are completed through a physician order or a reference laboratory permitted in New York.

New York is the exception: orders shipped there are completed through a physician order or a reference laboratory permitted in New York. Our genetic tests have not been cleared or approved by the FDA. Results describe inherited traits and risks and are meant to inform decisions you make with your clinician. They are not a diagnosis.
