Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of genematrix.io and any test you order through it, run by Gene Matrix LLC, doing business as GeneMatrix. By ordering a test, you agree to them.

Who may order and use this service, including any minimum age, is [To be confirmed].

We sell tests in these product families:

• Nutrigenomics: GeneCore, the all-in-one, and four single tests. For general wellness.
• Pharmacogenomics: One test, GenePGx: how you are likely to process everyday, pain and mental-health medicines.
• GeneCancer: Checks selected variants across 108 genes, including BRCA1 and BRCA2, by genotyping.
• For families: GeneBaby: inherited conditions screened in a newborn, from a gentle swab along your baby’s gums.
• Oral Health DNA: Measures the microbes in your saliva, not your genes.

Our genetic tests are laboratory-developed tests performed in our own CLIA-certified laboratory. New York is the exception: orders shipped there are completed through a physician order or a reference laboratory permitted in New York. Our genetic tests have not been cleared or approved by the FDA. Results describe inherited traits and risks and are meant to inform decisions you make with your clinician. They are not a diagnosis.

Our nutrition, supplement, athletic and wellbeing reports are for general wellness and information. The evidence behind these associations is less established than for our clinical panels, and these reports are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Oral Health DNA is sold separately from the genetic tests.

Oral Health DNA is a laboratory-developed test performed in our own CLIA-certified laboratory. New York is the exception: orders shipped there are completed through a physician order or a reference laboratory permitted in New York. It has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. It measures the DNA of microbes in your saliva, not your DNA: it is not a genetic test, not a diagnosis, and not a prediction of any disease.

Every test has one self-pay price, paid when you order. Insurance billing for GenePGx is coming soon.

When you pay the self-pay price, we do not send a claim to your health plan for that order.

Have Medicare, Medicaid or other government coverage? Please contact us before you order.

When you order, we ship you a kit to collect your sample at home and return it to us in the packaging provided.

Where the law or a test requires a licensed clinician to order or review a test, we will tell you before you order, and describe how it works here and at checkout, before it applies to your order. How this will work is [To be confirmed] by counsel.

Insurance billing is not open today. When it opens, only for our pharmacogenomics (PGx) test, these terms will apply to an order you choose to bill to your health plan:

• A clinician who is treating you orders the test for a medical reason.
• Before testing, we check your benefits. If our estimate of what you would owe is above the self-pay price, we contact you before testing, so you can choose to use your insurance, pay the self-pay price instead, or cancel at no charge.
• Your health plan decides what it covers. A clinician’s order does not guarantee that your plan will pay.
• The supplement view is never billed to insurance.

GeneMatrix+ re-reads your genetic reports as the evidence updates.

The first year of GeneMatrix+ is included when you turn on automatic renewal at checkout. After that it’s $99 a year until you cancel. Renewal is charged to your payment method each year. Leave automatic renewal off and you get the test alone, without a GeneMatrix+ year. Cancel anytime online, or by writing to info@genematrix.io. Your reports stay yours.

Its terms in full:

• Price: $99 a year
• First year: The first year of GeneMatrix+ is included when you turn on automatic renewal at checkout. It starts on your order date. It comes with any genetic test; Oral Health DNA does not include it. Leave automatic renewal off and you get the test alone, without a GeneMatrix+ year.
• Renewal: The first year of GeneMatrix+ is included when you turn on automatic renewal at checkout. After that it’s $99 a year until you cancel.
• Renewal date: One year after your order date. Checkout shows the exact date before you pay.
• Payment: Once you turn on automatic renewal at checkout, it is charged to your payment method each year until you cancel.
• How to cancel: Cancel anytime online, or by writing to info@genematrix.io.
• If you cancel: Your reports stay yours. Re-reads stop, and nothing renews.
• Washington, DC: Orders shipped to Washington, DC can get the first year by turning on automatic renewal at checkout too, but nothing is charged at renewal unless you confirm when we ask, before the first renewal.

You can cancel online: enter the email you ordered with on our Manage GeneMatrix+ page, and we’ll email you a secure link that works once. The full renewal terms are in our Auto-Renewal Terms.

If your order is refunded in full, the GeneMatrix+ year that came with it ends too: we cancel it at once, so it doesn’t renew and nothing more is charged. A partial refund leaves GeneMatrix+ as it is.

You can pay with any method checkout shows you. Some, such as a US bank account, take a few business days to clear: we ship your kit only once the payment has cleared, and if it doesn’t go through we email you and nothing ships.

If you turn on automatic renewal for GeneMatrix+, checkout offers only payment methods that can be charged again at renewal.

Full refund within 30 days of ordering, as long as your results haven’t been delivered. Once your results are delivered, the guarantee no longer applies.

We ship within the US for now; email us at info@genematrix.io about other countries. Prices are in US dollars.

Orders shipped to New York are completed through a physician order or a reference laboratory permitted in New York.

Your kit ships from our lab. Before you mail it back, activate it at genematrix.io/activate: activation links the kit ID on your sample to your order and to the person being tested. We don’t test a sample whose kit isn’t activated.

A kit that reaches the lab without being activated is held for 30 days. If it is still not activated after that, it is not tested and the sample is destroyed. Whether a new kit is then sent, and on what terms, is [To be confirmed].

A sample keeps for up to 60 days at room temperature. Please mail yours within 7 days of taking it. A sample taken more than 30 days before activation can’t be activated online: please call 847-302-9668 or email info@genematrix.io.

If you have ever had a bone marrow or stem cell transplant from a donor, a sample from your mouth can carry your donor’s DNA, so the results might not be yours. Please don’t mail the sample: call 847-302-9668 or email info@genematrix.io, and we’ll refund you.

If you have had a blood transfusion in the last 4 weeks, please wait until 4 weeks have passed, then take your sample with the same kit and activate it.

They are yours to keep. Every report stays yours after you cancel GeneMatrix+. Re-reads stop when it ends.

You agree to use this site and this service for your own lawful purposes only: not to misuse, scrape or disrupt it, and not to submit a sample that is not your own, or a minor’s without the authority to do so.

The site, its content and the design of your report belong to Gene Matrix LLC or its licensors.
